QUESTION: Who is Dr. Victor? Answer: I am called Victor Khojane, 41. I was born and raised in Kimberly, South Africa, where I attended school up to matrix. My late father was called Joseph Khujane and mother, Rebecca khujane. I am the last born in a family of five children, one of whom is a girl. At the age of 15, I formed a school band called CC Beat that performed mainly on weekends. As youngsters, we were influenced by South African bands such as Blondie and Papa Harare. The band toured South African nightclubs until I met producer and songwriter Al Etto in Cape Town. I played for him a few tapes. It was then that I produced my first album sponsored by Al Etto.
Is your title ‘doctor’ related to medicine?(laughs) I was given this name because of my love for singing using the microphone.
This is the second time you are here. Do find any difference? I must say that all African countries are the same. The way we laugh or interact makes someone think we have been together for a long time. But Uganda is developing very fast. Roads and buildings are fine.
What is your best moment? Ah! Man, I have two things that keep disturbing me whenever I’m asked that question: The day I accepted Jesus in my life and when my family joined me in Johnesburg from Cape Town.
What were you like as a kid? Just like other children, I was not special. I was brought up and that is the way I want to bring up my children up. Organisers of this event say collection from the show is meant to help the needy.
How does it feel to be regarded one of the outstanding artist? No comment. I, however, have respect for artistes over the globe. I salute Ugandan artistes like Bebe Cool and Peter Miles.
Any idea of bliss? I like having a nap after lunch. I also enjoy learning new things.
Will you return to Uganda again? Absolutely. I have Uganda at heart. Maybe I will bring my family for a tour sometime. Ends
