LAST Thursday, the Law Development Centre held a Professional Dinner for the Bar course students at Speke Resort and Country Lodge Munyonyo.

The dinner was punctuated by short presentations by students. Although it began with people observing a moment of silence in memory of the late Robinah Kiyingi, who was murdered recently, the party later turned into a big fun.

The highlight of the night was rib-breaking jokes from the chief guest, Margaret Sekaggya, also chairperson of Uganda Human Rights Commission and the students’ guild president, Joseph Epodoi, who humourously revealed how lawyers are regarded.

He said the difference between a lawyer and a vampire is that the vampire sucks blood at night and a lawyer sucks blood in broad daylight.

The enthusiastic lawyers, including Sekaggya, James Nangwala, Elija Wante, MacDusman Kabega, Frank Othembi and Muganwa danced to the tune of Jose Chameleone’s Jamila. About 500 law students interacted with the crème de crème of the legal profession.
