THE Inspectorate of Government (IGG) is cracking down on teachers with forged certificates in the Teso region.

For the last three months, an unspecified number of primary school teachers have been dismissed from the teaching service as a result of the Ombudsman’s investigation.

The deputy regional inspectorate officer, Willingstone Opinira, says the trend is national and involves all sectors.

“Forgery is at various levels. Here in Teso, it concerns mainly O’ Level result slips. The major claim is loss of documents to past insurgencies.”

Isaiah Ebyetu of Ocokican primary school was among the first culprits dismissed for using a forged O’ Level certificate
The Ministry of Education and Sports has since also cancelled Ebyetu’s grade III teaching certificate No. 111/99/8653.

Also sacked for forgery was Isaac Okuta, the deputy headmaster, Kabawa Town primary school.
