A woman and a man suspected to be her lover have been admitted in Rubaga hospital in Kamuli district after her husband reportedly poured acid on their faces.

The Police are hunting for Richard Kigenyi, who allegedly found the lovers sleeping in his bedroom.

The incident occurred at Balawoli sub-county in Kamuli on Wednesday.
The officer in charge of crime, Joseph Obwana, identified the victims as Madina Kigenyi and Alex Walubo.

Medical personnel expressed fear that the couple could lose their sight.
Neighbours told the Police that the suspect was a fisherman, who was usually away from home.

He reportedly suspected his wife of adultery and laid down a plan to catch her in the act.

Kigenyi told his wife that he would not return home because he had to transport fish for sale in Pallisa district.

However, when night fell, he sneaked back home through the courtyard after seeing his wife welcoming a man into the house.

Without giving them much time to relax, Kigenyi ran to the door and attacked the lovers, who were already in the bedroom.

He poured acid on them, burning their eyes, necks and chests before disappearing in the darkness.
