LUBAGA south MP John Ken Lukyamuzi is set to table “scientific and legal argument” for a district to be created at Mengo.

“I have consulted my colleague Hon. Tom Kayongo about this issue and at an appropriate time we shall table our case to the committee of public service and local government,” he said.

Addressing the press at parliament Buildings on Friday, Lukyamuzi said area MPs, the division council and Buganda government had approved the proposal for Mengo district.

Lukyamuzi said after parliament granted Kampala a special status, Lubaga division and other areas left out of Kampala the capital city of Uganda, must be given a new home and that home, which can only be a district.

Parliament last week passed the constitution (amendment) Bill No.2 creating regional tier governments to kick off on September 1, 2006.
