EMBATTLED Dr. Aggrey Kiyingi has not cleared his tenancy with the Buganda Land Board (BLB) for the land in Buziga, Mengo officials have said.

Deputy Katikkiro Godfrey Kaaya Kavuma on Tuesday said Kiyingi had several plots of land in Buziga but they were all part of Kabaka’s land so he has to clear with BLB.

Kavuma, who doubles as the Mengo minister for lands and property, however, denied claims that Mengo had started selling off Kiyingi’s plots at exorbitant prices.

He said Mengo could not do such a thing when Kiyingi is still embattled with the murder case of his wife Robinah Kiyingi, who was in July gunned down at her gate in Buziga.

BLB secretary Levi Zzimbe cautioned the public not to confuse Kiyingi’s being in prison with the kingdom’s programmes.
He said whether Kiyingi was in prison or not, BLB had on several occasions and through various communications asked him to clear his tenancy on Kabaka’s land.

Zzimbe said they had computerised their programmes, adding that they were not witch-hunting Kiyingi. He declined to give more information.

Mengo’s reaction follows Kiyingi’s recent claims in the media that some kingdom officials were selling his land at Buziga while he is in jail. He wondered why the officials, his tribesmen, were grabbing his property.

Kiyingi has also asked the Kabaka to intervene and restrain his subjects from tampering with his assets. He has reportedly engaged four Kampala lawyers headed by Edward Muguluma to follow up the land issue.

Muguluma, however, referred The New Vision to Rwaganika who is reportedly handling it. Rwaganika could not be reached for comment.
