WITH the MTN basketball league post-season just around the corner, A-1 Challenge have their team game right where they want it.
Coming off a thrilling victory over KCC Leopards, A-1 continued their second round winning streak with a 59-37 victory over MUK-Sparks at the YMCA courts on Saturday.
A-1 Challenge dominated from the opening tip and shot 54 percent (15-of-28) from the charity line in the first half with Viola Akuma scoring seven as they jumped to a 17-06 lead.
The team also showed why they have the league’s best defence when they limited Sparks to 21 percent (8-of-28) shooting from the floor and took a 29-17 halftime lead.
Betty Namukasa scored 11 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for her second double-double as teammate Elizabeth Kizza added 9 points for A-1 who improved to take pole position at the top of the women’s table standings.
Agatha Baliddawa and Olivia Mulwana scored 12 and 9 points respectively for Sparks whose second round has started disastrously.
