BUDADIRI West MP Nandala Mafabi on Tuesday survived being suspended from the House after he used derogatory language against Deputy Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga.

While debating the statement to Parliament on the impending strike by Kampala City Traders (KACITA), presented by the trade minister, Nandala thanked KACITA for keeping the government on its toes.

He said consumers should be on the forefront of demonstrating and lashed out at the Government for cracking down only small smugglers while the big ones connive with government.

State minister for information Nsaba Buturo, however, rose up, saying Mafabi seemed not to have followed what the minister had said and that all his concern had been discussed.

Mafabi rudely brushed off Buturo, “That is the problem with you. You don’t listen and you always miss the point...”

This prompted planning state minister Isaac Musumba to raise a point of order, asking whether it was in order for Mafabi to use derogatory language in the House.

Kadaga ruled Mafabi out of order. But the unremorseful Mafabi shot up again and said, “Thank you for your wise ruling. You are entitled to your ruling.”
