The Inspector General of Government, Faith Mwondha, has urged voters not to elect corrupt people in 2006.
“Ugandans should make corruption a major issue in national and local elections and transform the electoral system into a veritable facility to keep to the anti-corruption agenda.
“This would be one of the best ways to counteract the strong tendency of leaders who use ‘lip service’ to combat corruption,” she said.
Mwondha was on Tuesday officiating at an anti-corruption workshop at the Grand Imperial hotel organised by the African Parliamentarians Network Against Corruption Uganda chapter in conjunction with its Transparency international counterpart.
She told participants that corruption was a serious threat to a peaceful and orderly society.
“Corruption erodes the moral fabric of society and violates the social and economic rights of the poor and vulnerable,” Mwondha said.
