THE Inspector General of Government (IGG), Faith Mwondha, has recommended disciplinary action against four Jinja municipality officials over alleged graft, incompetence and mismanagement in the construction of the Jinja Central Division Council office block, reports Isaac Kalembe.
The officials are town clerk David Kigenyi Naluwayiro, municipal engineer Nathan Wamuzibira, assistant town clerk in-charge of the division Joseph Bagonza Birungi and urban tender board secretary Jofram Waidhuba, also the deputy town clerk.
Mwondha released a report into alleged corruption during construction of the block at a press conference at her offices on Wednesday.
The report was handed to the Jinja district chairperson, Fred Gume Ngobi, in the presence of the mayor, David Wakudumira and the division chairperson, Baswale Kezaala, among other district officials.
The IGG implicated the officials of causing the division a sh392.8m loss.
“The construction of the block has been marred by illegalities/irregularities and corruption, rendering the same to be a danger to intended occupants and/or users,” she said.
