Ambitious Awori
Samia Bugwe MP Aggrey Awori never ceases to thump his chest. As the house wound up business on Friday, he told the MPs, “those of you who will be here in the next parliament should attempt to amend some of these laws. Of course for me I will not be here, I am aiming for higher ground.” He was apparently referring to his presidential ambition. This threw the house into a fit of laughter.
We wish him good speed to State House.

Lokeris is married
State minister for Karamoja Peter Lokeris is indeed a married man. Not only is he married, but he has also sired children as old as some of his colleagues in the house. After being challenged by Kasilo MP, Elijah Okupa on whether he was in order to comment on weddings when he was not married last Thursday, he retorted with another ‘point of order’. “Madam Speaker, is the Hon. Elijah Okupa in order to doubt whether I am married when indeed, I am legally married and I have children who are older than him, is he in order?” he inquired. Madam Speaker Rebecca Kadaga, finding herself between a rock and a hard place, declined to rule on the matter.

Poor Nsaba Buturo!
Information minister Dr. Nsaba Buturo must have regretted being appointed minister last Friday, as he made a statement regarding his controversial TV tax. Right from the time he was given the floor, everything seemed to go wrong. Fellow ministers started giggling behind his back while others fought hard to suppress laughter. Buturo looked like he wanted to sink into his seat and couldn’t believe his ears. As some openly laughed others were directly unkind to him. “Mr. Minister, you might come here using your good English, but at the end of the day, Tamale Mirundi is more of a star than you,” Bright Rwamirama told him.

Pious Nsibambi
Premier Apolo Nsibambi is indeed a very pious man. As the house wound up for recess, he spoke last. Clearing his throat in his traditional manner before delivering an important statement, he said, “I thank you madam Speaker for handling us very well, I thank you members especially those on the front bench and especially the ministers of finance, and lastly I thank our creator, the good Lord for giving us life, and I thank you all”. How succinct!
