Kabaka Ronald Mutebi has cautioned Baganda against being misled by idle talk instead of concentrating on work.
He said it was time Baganda stopped gossiping and waiting to be spoon-fed and advised them to strive for the prosperity of the kingdom instead of waiting for handouts.
“It is time to stop empty talk and to start fending for ourselves instead of leaving others to come to our rescue. Stop the talk of ‘there is peace and we sleep soundly,’” he told his subjects at the Mengo palace on Saturday.
Mutebi said the political transition was a critical period, adding, “We must decide on how Buganda will be run in the future and to achieve this we must be united, strong, hardworking and trustworthy.”
The Kabaka was launching a five-year development plan for the Buganda Kingdom Development Foundation, code named ‘Twekembe’. The launch was part of a series of activities to mark 10 years of BUCADEF.
It was attended by the Vice-President, Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, Katikkiro Joseph Ssemwogerere and agriculture state minister Kibirige Sebunya.
