PROPERTY belonging to the former Uganda Commercial Bank (UCB), located in different parts of the country, will soon go under hammer unless the over sh3b is paid to its former employees within 30 days.
This follows a warrant of attachment of the property issued by the High Court Registrar, Paul Wolimbwa Gadenya, to the auctioneers and court bailiffs, Kamugasha Agencies, following an application by Augustine Ssemakula, the lawyer representing former employees.
The property includes plots 10-12 located at Kamwenge Road in Ibanda, plot 12 at Birch Avenue, Masaka Municipality, block 5 on plot 123 at Kazumbura Kagunga, Rukungiri and block 634 plot 100 Kilumba, Mubende.
The property is occupied by Stanbic Bank, which took over UCB.
The auctioneers have advertised the property in the print media for sale at the expiry of the 30 days from September 7. The sale comes after ex-employees won a representative suit instituted by Samuel Lugeya and Hormisdas Mulindwa via attorney Ssemakula.
