AFTER a brief break, pressure group Save Our Soccer (SOS) returned with the launch of a logo and a move to the grassroots at Musita, Mayuge district on Saturday.
The move is the beginning of SOS’ countrywide programme to identify youth for football development, group official Fred Muwema declared.
The group sparked a rebellion in Uganda’s football administration that led to court action and disbandment of the Denis Obua-FUFA executive and took a low profile after the world soccer body FIFA appointed the James Sekajugo normalisation committee.
Muwema, flanked by group spokesman Dennis Mbidde, donated a DStv system to a local community organisation, BROSDI, that strives to nurture sporting talent in the neighbouring schools.
BROSDI (Busoga Rural Open Source and Development Initiative) is a community association that seeks to demystify information and communication technology in rural areas through the internet.
“We are glad to be associated with organisations like this,†said Muwema who appealed to satellite service providers to make their services affordable in rural areas.
The SOS logo depicts a blue umbrella and rain as a symbol of protection. ‘Save Our Soccer the future of football in Uganda†is the slogan.
