UGANDAN travel and tours operators have been advised to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the Aichi Expo 2005 to invite more Japanese tourists to the country.

“The Expo has been a comprehensive channel to show the Japanese that Uganda as a tourist destination is truly the Pearl of Africa,” a report compiled by Samuel Mugisha of BIC Tours and Travels, said.

The report said an opportunity exists for Uganda because the Japanese travel industry is steadily growing and the country’s natural beauty, comfortable weather and a wide range of wild animals are an attraction.

The Expo has broken psychological barriers about Africa’s bad image and has provided an opportunity to increase its tourism potential.

“The opening of the Japanese embassy in Kampala is a good indicator for the tourism industry,” said the report.
