FOUR British MPs of the All Party Parliamentary Group on the Great lakes region were moved and shocked by the number of children night commuters in the war-ravaged north.
They said peace talks needed to be reinforced in order to bring the LRA conflict to an end.
“What is so moving and shocking is the number of night-commuting children and the number of children who have been abducted by the LRA,” David Drew said on Thursday while at Noah’s Ark night-commuting centre in Gulu town.
Betty Bigombe, the chief peace broker, is currently trying all options to lure the LRA rebels to accept peace talks with the Government to end the war The coordinator Noah’s Ark, Annette Kurui, said they had registered 5,000 night-commuting children.
She said the number flactuated according to the security situation.
She said some children who had returned from LRA captivity were still traumatised by their experiences.
