THE Minister for Gender, Labour and Social Development, Zoe Bakoko Bakoru, has stressed the need for civil society to work with the Government to put an end to economic domination by developed states.
She said exploitation of developing countries by rich and powerful nations would continue, unless Africans developed their capacity to add value to the goods they produced.
“It is sad to note that we sell a kilogramme of coffee beans at sh1,800 to the European market but the same people that buy the beans from us sell the processed coffee at sh9,000,” she said.
Bakoko was recently speaking at a seminar organised by the Bahai community at the National Theatre, on the topic “United Nations at the crossroads.”
She urged people to support regional integration, saying it would open up more markets.
