PAUL and Jan Crouch were both brought up in strict Christian families. Paul is a son of Pentecostal missionaries and Jan is a daughter of an Assembles of God pastor. It is not very clear whether being raised in similar backgrounds had a hand in the two becoming husband and wife, but they met in the early 1950s while Paul was working as a film librarian for the Assembles of God. And in 1958 they exchanged vows. From an early age, Paul crouch, born in 1934, took interest in amateur radio. Paul, who attended Central Bible Institute and Seminary figured that by way of technology, the Gospel would remarkably go round the world. He began to work in radio and television in 1954. In 1961 Paul was hired to run the Assemblies of God’s broadcast production facility in Burbank, California. It was from there that, together with his wife, he left to start a television network. They shared a dream, a vision to spread God’s to the rest of the world through television. That dream began as a single UHF outlet in Orange County, California in 1973. And now it has blossomed into a multimillion-dollar TV operation viewed by millions across the world. Paul, raised in Missouri, is now the chairman and president of TBN while Jan is vice-president and director of programming. Jan, a compassionate and very emotional lady, has opened up charities to help distressed children in some of the world’s poorest nations. Occasionally, she weeps on television while recounting her different encounters with poverty, disease and death. Ends
