SIR — We refer to a letter published in the New Vision of October 7 about a security guard who was rude to our customer. We apologise to the customer for the nasty encounter with the Saracen guard at our Nakivubo Road Branch. Indeed a security guard’s job is only that of guarding. We would like to request our customers not to seek assistance on bank matters from any security guard. Please go to the Customer Care Desk or the Branch Manager or contact the Public Relations Desk at head office or any other member staff. Actually the guards are not employees of the Centenary Bank but work for security companies we contract for security services. We have referred this case to Saracen (U) Ltd, the security service providers. Necessary measures have also been taken to ensure that this unfortunate incident does not re-occur at any of our branches.
