Do it yourself
What you need:
- Manila paper
- Scissors, glue, paint brush
- Raffia or sisal string
- Paints, coloured pencils or crayons
- A basin of water
- Plain, white paper
- Eleven small sticks
- Modelling clay

Make a mast by cutting out a square piece of manila paper 10cm by 10cm. Cut a slit on the dotted line at the top of the square, see Fig. 1a. Draw a figure or pattern on the plain, white piece of paper, colour it and then cut it out. Stick it in the middle of the square.

See Fig1b. Push one of the sticks through the slit of the mast. See Fig 2. Line up eight of the sticks next to each other. They should be of the same length. Lay a stick across each end and tie them together using raffia or sisal string.

Attach the must to the sticks you have tied together using modelling clay. Your raft is now ready. Try to float it in a basin of water and have fun!
