THE catholic apostolic nuncio in Uganda, Christopher Pierre, has asked people to be agents of peace and reconciliation, reports Chris Ochowun.
He said reconciliation was the only way to make a difference in the northern conflict.
This was contained in a message read by the vicar general of Lira diocese, Monsignor Lawrence Okucu, during the 9th commemoration and peace prayers for the Aboke girls who were abducted by the rebels on October 10 in 1996.
Four of the Aboke girls have died while in captivity, two are still missing and 24 girls have either been rescued, surrendered or escaped from captivity.
Pierre thanked Concerned Parents Association (CPA) for providing necessary rehabilitation to the formerly abducted children.
The former captives condemned LRA activities and appealed to their leader Joseph Kony to denounce rebellion.
Okucu, who is also the rector of Aboke seminary, said people should preach the message of peace, reconciliation and liberation.
He said God should make people committed peace-makers and reconcile with each other.
The prayer was attended by parents, school children, religious leaders and Concerned Parents from Gulu, Lira, Pader and Apac districts.
