SOROTI district council has rejected a demand by the Public Service Commission that it pays termination benefits to retrenched staff. This was during a council meeting on Wednesday after chief administrative officer George Omuge read a report on the restructuring exercise.

Five killed

FIVE people perished in accidents in Jinja in September. The traffic accident statistics indicated a total of five fatal accidents, 21 serious and 28 slight ones. traffic chief Amazia Bogere said 23 people sustained serious injuries while four were slight.
