THE International Hockey Federation (IHF) has agreed to offer more resources to further uplift the surrounding of modern synthetic hockey pitch at Lugogo.

Theo Ykema, the IFH development and coaching committee chairman, disclosed this during his assessment of the on-going project at Lugogo yesterday.

“We are happy work is progressing well,” he said, “We hope the new pitch will have an enormous impact in Ugandan hockey,” added Ykema.

IHF and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) jointly sponsor the sh500m project that is handled by AGOLI Investments Ltd. and WEGS International. Work is currently concentrated on the drainage system.

The synthetic carpet is expected in February for the project that is expected to wind up by March next year, according to site engineer Kennedy Omona.

Bas van den Berg, the managing director of EDEL, the manufacturers of the synthetic carpet accompanied Ykema to inspect the project site.

The IFH delegation was taken around the site by Uganda Hockey Federation (UHF) chairman Arthur D’Mello and engineer Jerry Burley, who is overseeing the project on behalf of the local federation. Work will last about a year.
