DO you know you can win sh500,000 with The New Vision Design an Ad Children’s Christmas Competition. The competition, which begins today, will go on until December 10, 2005.
It is a fun game to test your level of creativity. You are required to draw and colour an advert that can convince someone to buy the products of either Bata, MTN, Splash or Shell companies. You should not copy any existing advert of those companies. If you do, your entry will be thrown out.
Entering the competition is easy.
First you have to buy a copy of The New Vision. Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, we shall have entry coupons. Cut out these coupons. They are very important because every advertisement you send in must have an entry coupon.
Don’t allow anyone to help you design your advert. If you do, your entry will be disqualified.
First, get any paper and draw a sketch of your advert before you draw your final advert on a piece of white photocopying paper.
Colour your advert using markers or water paints or crayons.
Use coloured pencils only if you have completely failed to find markers. Do not use plain pencils. Instead use a black pen. Pencils are faint. When we are printing, pencil marks do not come out very clearly.
Every week, judges will choose the best four adverts which will win sh50,000. All the adverts published will compete for a grand prize at the end of the contest in December. The best advert will win sh500,000. The second will win sh300,000 and the third sh200,000. This competition is only for primary school children aged between 5 -13.
You can send in as many entries as you can to: The Children’s Editor, The New Vision, P.O.Box 9815, Kampala, Third street, Industrial Area. Write the words: Draw an Advert Children’s Christmas Competition on your envelope.
Please do not forget to attach a New Vision coupon. And if you send in more than one entry, each must have a different coupon. Again, no one should draw for you. Your teachers can only guide you where you have problems. If a teacher guides you, include his/her name and telephone number. Three teachers whose classes submit the most adverts will each receive sh100,000 at the end of the competition.
