While receiving the donation over the weekend, the Pakistani High Commissioner to Kenya, Syed Hussain, asked the Ugandan business community to donate toward the cause. “We are calling upon business partners worldwide to support about three million of our countrymen who have been rendered homeless, and are facing a chilly winter,†he said at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel. He said as a result of an appeal in Kenya, 25,000 blankets and $100,000 (sh186.5m) had been raised. Bonny Katatumba (left), the Pakistani honorary counsul, launched the fundraising at Katatumba Suites in Kampala recently. Some of the big donors included Al-Malik Group, which donated about sh10m.
