Musisi, who played for Stade Rennes in France then Bursaspor and Dardanelspor in Turkey, is the only Ugandan to have featured for a European club. “I don’t understand how a footballer plays only one season for Villa or Express then immediately wants to become professional,†a jovial Musisi said. “I played for eight seasons at Villa before I was bought by Rennes.†Musisi was speaking to patrons of the National Union of Football Fans Association (NUFFA) who paid him a courtesy call at his mother’s home in Bwaise. NUFFA boss Joseph Kizito and mobiliser Ben Misagga handed over sh0.5m and an assortment of food items on behalf of football fans. NUFFA announced that they intend to start an account at which other well-wishers can deposit some money to support the former international striker. They also promised to organise a testimonial match to honour him. Musisi spoke about the need by local players to work hard at home before going abroad. “By the time I turned pro I was known all over Africa,†he said. Ends
