Yokwe, Akope go yello max
UGANDA Golf Open champion Charles Yokwe and former champion Deo Akope have landed sponsorship from MTN.

UGANDA Golf Open champion Charles Yokwe and former champion Deo Akope have landed sponsorship from MTN.
The telecommunications giants will sponsor Yokwe and Akope in local and international tournaments.
“I am now a Yello Max man. MTN is everywhere you go and it has decided to take me places,†an excited Yokwe said at the prize-giving ceremony of the Uganda Open on Sunday.
Yokwe won the Uganda Open by one stroke on the final day having been placed tenth on day one. He said yesterday that the MTN chief operations officer Serame Taukobong had confirmed the sponsorship.
“We applied for sponsorship long before the Uganda Open which has now been confirmed. We have been skipping some upcountry events because of financial problems,†Yokwe said.
He added: “But now we can compete favourably for the national championship with other sponsored golfers. The sky is now the limit for Akope and myselfâ€.
The MTN sponsored pair will battle dfcu Bank’s Stephen Kasaija and uganda telecom’s Dennis Anguyo, among others, in the Uganda Golf Union (UGU) stroke-play championship.
Yokwe and Akope will compete in the Tanzania Open in Arusha next week.
