STEPHEN Kawuma, enjoying good form, needs two wins to qualify for the third phase of the chess Olympiad qualifiers.

The former local champion goes for the last four rounds of the second phase this weekend with six straight wins.

Kawuma won his four games last week having defeated his first two opponents a week earlier.

“I am in comfortable position but it is not yet over. I need at least one win and a draw to advance,” Kawuma said.

Kawuma will face Harold Wanyama, also in contention for a place in the seventh round.

Former national champion Zabasajja is eyeing qualification.
The second phase drew 27 players and the top 12 will advance to the third and final phase in January.

The top six will then qualify for the world show due in Italy in May.
The qualifying series started last month.
