LC5 chief set for 2006 KAMWENGE — Acting LC5 chairperson Florence Beyunga has declared her intention to unseat incumbent Woman MP Aidah Mehangye. Beyunga on Friday said she made the decision in response to appeals from the people. “People have approached me requesting me to represent them. I can’t let them down,” she said.

Madada defeated KAYUNGA — LC5 vice-chairman Amir Kalema Bunanyuma has beaten Bbaale MP Sulaiman Kyebakoze Madada as the district NRM chairman, after scoring a landslide margin of 119 votes against Madada’s 33. Jubilant residents flocked Kalema’s residence on Friday to congratulate him over the victory.

Jinja mayor wins again JINJA — Mayor David Wakudumira has won the NRM elections in the municipality. He defeated former mayor Stephen Bewayo Nsubuga and Phillip Bwambale with 297 votes against 185 and 85 votes respectively.

Karooro elected BUSHENYI — Woman MP Mary Karooro Okurut was on Friday elected unopposed as the district NRM woman chairperson. Buhweju county MP Deus Bikwasizehi became publicity secretary. City tycoon Hassan Bassajja-balaba was elected NRM entrepreneurship chief.
