ABUBAKER Tabula has been stripped of the Cranes captaincy following substandard performances since reporting for international duty.

Cranes head coach Mohammad Abbas, who had given the left-footed defender a vote of confidence in assuming the team’s captaincy even before regrouping with the rest last week, said: “He has disappointed me. He is not serious. If he is to play, he will be fielded like the rest.”
SC Villa captain Andrew Mwesigwa has consequently been appointed as skipper. Abbas hopes to profit from Mwesigwa’s commanding abilities that helped Villa to this year’s CECAFA clubs title in Tanzania.

Tabula and Hassan Mubiru’s awful attitudes have seen the two Rwanda-based players absenting from training for the last three days.

“I am told they ran back to Rwanda for a while and will be back. What type of players do we have here? Abbas asked.
The Egyptian tactician has been forced to invite Villa’s Michael Sebalinga and Godfrey Kateregga as cover for Cranes’ left flank.
