LIFTERS might be fighting to get there but Uganda Weightlifting Federation (UWF) still has a long way before it conquers the world.
This was highlighted by weightlifter Irene Ajambo, who finished 13th in the women 69kg category at the 17th women centennial games in Doha, Qatar.
Ajambo (right) snatched 65kg and clean jerked 90kg for a total of 155kg, 120kg less than Russian Zarema Kasaeva, who claimed gold after a total of 275kg.
Ismail Katamba, the other Ugandan at the event, was yet to lift in the tournament, which is a build up to the Commonwealth Games due in Melbourne, Australia next year.
