THE President’s office has handed over assets and liabilities of Uganda Television (UTV) and Radio Uganda to the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC), marking the launch of the corporation, writes John Odyek.

Thecla Kinalwa, the secretary in the Office of the president, on Wednesday said UTV and Radio Uganda were now dissolved entities and UBC was expected to provide better services.

The function took place at the President’s office, Nakasero. The new acronyms for UTV and Radio Uganda will be UBC TV and UBC Radio.

Haji Yunus Kakande, the under secretary in the Office of the President, represented Kinalwa.

UBC corporation secretary Francis Gimara and board chairman Chris Katurama received the assets and liabilities on behalf of the Government.

The items included contract documents, files, software documents and the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation Act 2005.
