THE Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Mutebi has sponsored a team of two squash players to participate in the Kenya Open that starts today at Parklands Sports Club in Nairobi.

“The king of Buganda has sponsored the team of Lawrence Matovu and Paul Nkambwe together with other well-wishers to participate in the Kenya Open,” revealed Simon Kajubu, who is national coach.

“The king however does not want to disclose how much he is committing to the side.” The Kenya Open is the biggest tournament in the East and Central Africa. It has a total cash prize of $10,000 (Sh18.4m), with $5,000(Sh9.2m) for the winner.

Other well-wishers who helped the duo include Moses Nareeba, George Sendiwala and Uganda Squash Rackets Association (USRA).
