NINE people were yesterday injured in an accident-involving president Yoweri Museveni’s convoy at Lubowa, six miles on Entebbe road, reports Patrick Jaramogi.

The president was heading to Entebbe airport enroute to Malta for the commonwealth summit, when the lead presidential escort vehicle had a head-on collision with a prisons pick-up truck. The injured where taken to Kampala International Hospital.

According to the police spokesman, Asuman Mugenyi, the nine included two police officers, three prison warders and four students of Kajjansi progressive secondary school, who were returning for holidays.

State House, yesterday said in a statement, “the president came out of the his vehicle, looked at the injured, assessed the injuries and directed that State House Comptroller (SHC), ensures that the injured get proper treatment and that the Government meets the costs of treatment and any other requirements.”
