DAUDI Migereko, the trade minister, has commended the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) programme for bailing farmers out of poverty.

He said this in a speech read by state minister for economic monitoring Omwony Ojwok at the fifth NAADS review in Kampala last week.

“NAADS is increasing availability of agricultural advisory services efficiently than previous extension systems attesting to its greater effectiveness in reaching farmers and assisting them to overcome barriers to improved technology,” said Migereko.

He, however, said farmers were still grappling with access to markets.
The NAADS chairman, Dr David Kazungu said farmers were participating in decision-making.

The NAADS executive director, Dr Silim Nahdy, said 86% of the farmers groups had access to information.
