MUKONO district chairman Godfrey Ddamulira has declared his intention to contest for the 2006 LC5 seat as an independent candidate.
In a December 1 letter to Ruhakana Rugunda, the NRM election commission chairman, he sought the nullification of the November 30 elections in which he lost to Francis Lukooya, the former Wakiso resident district commissioner (RDC).
The letter cited numerous irregularities in the elections where he polled 2,207 votes against Lukooya’s 6,205.
“I pray that justice be done but whatever the outcome of my petition, I will run as an independent candidate,” he said on Friday.
Ddamulira (above) said Peter bakaluba Mukasa, the Mukono North MP, camped at polling stations in Ntenjeru and Kyampisi sub-counties and bribed voters.
