KAMPALA — Pastor Joseph Kazoora of Omega healing Centre has announced his intention to run independently in the 2006 presidential polls. Displaying his nomination papers at The New Vision offices on Friday, Kazoora said he had a vision from God to take over from Museveni, who delivered Uganda from ‘slavery.’ He said he could not disobey God’s will.

GULU — Democratic Party (DP) President John Ssebaana Kizito and the DP National Executive committee members are scheduled to meet party chairpersons from the north in Arua. DP Greater North chairman Kerobino Uma said yesterday he had invited Ssebaana, the DP NEC members to meet regional chairpersons and address party supporters.

KAMWENGE — District Woman MP Idah Mehangye has petitioned the National resistance movement party electoral commission seeking a re-run of the party’s polls. She claimed the November 30 elections were marred by irregularities. Mehangye lost to Florence Hashaka, the district cashier, after garnering 1,675 votes against Hashaka’s 1,712.
