DEFENDING champions Charles Yokwe leads three other Ugandans for the Nyali Open golf tournament to tee off at Nyali golf and country club on Saturday. Together with Yokwe who clinched the title last year are Rwanda Open champion Godfrey Mande, Tanzania Open champion Deo Akope and Dennis Anguyo.

CAT demand
CONFEDERATION of Africa Tennis (CAT) plans to increase the number of Africans in the Women Tour Association (WTA). CAT president Tarak Cherif said they intend to embark on boosting the competition which will improve standards to enable African players join the professional ranks. “Our objective is to increase the number of players.”

Kawempe set
Kawempe men and Nakawa women volleyball teams are set to retain the annual Sembiro Memorial Volleyball Cup due at Lugogo on Saturday. The one-day event competed for by the five divisions of Kampala is organised by Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) in memory of their late coach Geoffrey Sembiro.

Brazil move
RIO DE JANEIRO - World champions Brazil have chosen a base near Frankfurt for the World Cup, the Brazilian Football Confederation said on its website. The five-times world champions will have exclusive use of a hotel at Koenigstein, 20km from Frankfurt, during their stay in Germany. Brazil kick off the defence of their crown against Croatia in Berlin.
