CAR OF THEWEEK:
We have seen them all on the streets of Kampala –– fuel guzzling state-of-the-art SUVs including Range Rovers, Humvees, BWW X5s, VW Touaregs and the Cadillac Escalade. What we have not seen is this baby: a 4X4 Porsche. That is because it is the first of its kind in the world! But now it is here, silver in colour, registration number UAG 655 X. Club Silk’s Elvis Sekyanzi is the owner. The German-made Porsche Cayenne S was launched in 2003 but there are 2004 and 2005 versions going for between $40,000 (sh74m)- $100,000 (sh185m) and $148,000 (sh273m) before taxes. Specifications include automatic headlights with dusk sensors, wiper activated headlights, rain- sensing wipers, radio data system, AM/FM radio –– with speed sensitive volume, 350-watts, and 14 speakers, a CD player, subwoofer, automatic climate control, inflatable spare tyre kit, dust and active carbon air filter. This does not even begin to describe its dynamics.
