THE six bodies of the victims who perished in a road accident at Muterere, Bugiri district recently have been buried in the hospital cemetery after nobody claimed them.

The charred, unidentified bodies included two male and two female adults, a boy and girl.

Bugiri Hospital superintendent Dr. Obanga Oundo said the bodies had started decomposing, spreading a stench in and around the hospital.
“We could not keep these bodies any longer because the freezing system in our mortuary is defective. The only option was to bury them,” Oundo said.

The victims were among the passengers aboard a bus that blew up into flames when it collided head-on with a fuel tanker trailer at Muterere, on the Musita-Namayingo road in Bugiri.

The night crash involved three vehicles that included a bus, UCC 600, a fuel tanker, UAB 640A and a Diana truck, UAD 084S.

The Police said the accident occurred after the braking system of the bus failed as it descended a hill, making the driver lose control. The bus rammed into a fuel tanker coming from the opposite direction. The two vehicles blew up in flames. Moments later, a Dyna truck rammed into them.
