UGANDANS should not allow politics, greed, desire for prominence, ambition and fear to tear them apart, Anglican Archbishop Henry Luke Orombi has said.
Orombi called upon believers to pray for a peaceful transition period.
“It is easy to think that God has deserted us during times of trouble. I therefore call upon all believers to rise up and call upon Jesus during this time when we are faced with change in our political transition,†he said.
In his Christmas and new year’s message, Orombi called upon Christians to let bitterness and hatred go with the passing year and embrace love in the new year.
He said humanity had fallen short of God’s glory due to rebellion against God, adding, “Our sinfulness reflects itself in our poor relationship with each other.â€
Orombi urged the LRA rebels to stop shedding innocent blood, lay down their guns and return home for peaceful living to build the nation.
He also prayed for peace in the internally displaced persons camps in northern Uganda.
“Your tears and cries will continue to rise up to God for freedom. He is with you to deliver. Do not harbour any bitterness or anger against anyone because that cannot help you,†Orombi advised them.
He encouraged people living with HIV/AIDS to strengthen their faith in God through prayer and asked the youth to trust their bodies with Jesus.
He warned them against succumbing to having sex for material gains.
