Paramedical, nursing games end

Robinah Kakai, voted the most valuable female athlete, netball and volleyball player led Jinja Nursing School to overall victory in the 2005 Nursing and Paramedical national games after four days of battling at Kyegobe playground in Fort Portal, Thursday.

Robinah Kakai, voted the most valuable female athlete, netball and volleyball player led Jinja Nursing School to overall victory in the 2005 Nursing and Paramedical national games after four days of battling at Kyegobe playground in Fort Portal, Thursday.

Jinja collected 106 points beating their rivals Lira Nursing (95) to second place.

Kabalore CAO, Steven Rubehayo crowned the winners.

There were however cries of joy and disappointment at the games.

Hosts Fort Portal Nursing were deprived of the netball trophy and it was awarded to Mengo Nursing although the former had won the final 17-15. Fort Portal were found guilty of fielding mercenaries setting the entire town into a shiver. Fort Portal also lost in the volleyball, football and netball finals.

Mulago Paramedical School won the football cup after beating Fort Portal 5-4 in a heartbreaking penalty shoot out after a thrilling goalless draw.

Lira Nursing beat Mulago 2-0 in the volleyball final after neliminating Fort Portal 2-1 in the semifinals.

Lira were athletics winners, with their golden boys, Denis Obua, Peter Ocen, Simon Opio and Emmanuel Okwir patterning to win medals and trophies for their school and in individual events .
