Zack Orji, a leading actor in the popular Nigerian movies, arrived in the country recently for auditions and casting of the first movie featuring Ugandan actors alongside Nigerian actors.

Orji, a movie producer and director and also the President of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, has been presiding over the selection and casting of the actors at Hotel Diplomate. He will return in March next year with more actors and the filming crew to shoot the movie.

Born in Gabon and raised in Nigeria, Orji has acted in more than 150 movies including Glamour Girls, Pretenders and Living in Bondage.

According to Emmanuel Onuoha, the director of Paragon, a film production firm, the idea of having Nigerian top actors featuring in a movie with Ugandan actors is to develop and market the young Nigerian movie industry beyond borders.

“In Uganda, Nigerian movies are popular. In fact they are featured daily on some TV stations, that is why we are bringing Orji,” Onuoha said recently.

Optimistic about the collaboration, Orji said, “I am bringing Africa together. I’ve always believed that there should be a motion picture industry of Africa and the Diaspora. This includes North Africa and South Africa.” Orji has shot films in Ghana and Congo.
