THE Namirembe Cathedral 8:30am Service Choir has released a Christmas album.
The CD, Amazaalibwa, has 12 hymns sang in Luganda and English. The English songs are accompanied by the glorious sounds of the pipe organ, while the Luganda songs are accompanied by African traditional instruments like the xylophone, calabash-shakers and drums that give the music an indigenous alchemy.
Organist Daniel Ssempereza, the Director of the choir is the brain behind the ‘beautiful project.’ He composed a number of songs, like Amazaalibwa (Christmas) and Azaaliddwa (Jesus is born).
“It is beautiful, lovely, enchanting. Everybody should listen to it,†said Moses Mulira, the choir’s conductor. The Cassettes and CDs are available at Namirembe Cathedral secretary’s office.
