THE Bishop of Lango Diocese, John Charles Odurkami, has predicted that the 17-year-old northern Uganda rebellion would end this year.

He said there is an indication that Joseph Kony, the leader of the Lord's Resistance Army rebels, would be defeated by a combined force of UPDF, Amuka militia and prayers to God.

“We have declared a spiritual war on Kony and his LRA fighters. All the churches in the country have come together to pray over these satanic forces of Joseph Kony,” the bishop said.

He was on Boxing Day addressing thousands of Lira Christians who had thronged Uganda Technical College play ground during the National Prayer Blanket, a prayer which was conducted throughout the country for peace in the northern Uganda.

Odurkami said by killing innocent people, Kony had no good vision for the country.

“Kony came to commit all sorts of evils. As Christians, we must declare war on the LRA in the name of Jesus,” he said.

He said he expected people who are living like animals in the bush to go back home and stay a normal life this year.
