KAMPALA — First Lady Janet Museveni will today appear for the first time on a radio talk show. She will appear on the Capital Gang programme to talk about Uganda’s struggle against the AIDS disease.

Defilers in for 6 months
KAMPALA — Three men were yesterday sentenced to six months in prison for defilement. Justice Akiiki Kiiza convicted Milton Kabazamu, 36, Stephen Membe , 26 and Samuel Akampulira, 24, for defiling girls aged between 10 and 17 years old in 1998.

Man found dead on road
JINJA — A body of an unidentified man was on Wednesday morning found lying in a pool of blood in Naava Zone. The district CID boss, Hillary Odoch, said the deceased was hacked to death with a sharp object because the body had deep cuts on the head, torso and legs.

2 held over bus ambush
GULU — Security agents have arrested two suspected thugs who ambushed a Kampala- bound Gateway bus at Chala bridge and injured four people including the district vice chairman on December 14. The army said yesterday Zubail Yada and Ashraf Abasi were arrested from their hideout in Moyo town.

‘Pay sh1.5m or go to jail’
NAKAWA — A mechanic found guilty of stealing a client’s motorcycle valued at sh1.5m has been ordered to compensate the plaintiff or serve one year in jail. Prosecution told Grade One Magistrate Agnes Nkonge that Sula Lwanga stole the motorcycle from Bossa Isabirye last year.

In our New Year resolutions story, we erroneously quoted Maj Shaban Bantariza as having said man possesses and God dispossesses. He actually used the adage, man proposes and God disposes. We regret the error.
