Parliament deputy speaker Rebecca Kadaga (right) on New Year’s Day broke the silence about her relationship with a veteran politician.
During the Jinja Mayor’s Ball at Jinja Town Hall on Wednesday night, in which she was the chief guest, Kadaga introduced Ateker Ejalu as her husband.
“I am with my husband here, please wave to the people,†Kadaga said, attracting ululations from the crowd that was ushering in the New Year.
Ejalu stood up and waved to the people, who reciprocated with a deep uproar, clapping and shouting “mulamu...tusangaire (brother-in-law, you are welcome)...â€
Earlier, the Master of Ceremonies, who was announcing the arrival of Kadaga to the function, said she was with her companion, an apparent reference to Ejalu.
