By Angella Wiltshire THE cell phone is a portable modern tool of telecommunication. It has made communication faster and convenient. However, there are ways in which you must conduct yourself while on phone. below are dos and don’ts for A cell phone owner.
Don’ts Never take a personal mobile call during a business meeting. This includes interviews and meetings with co-workers or subordinates. It looks pretty rude taking a call in the middle of a serious meeting. Everyone will tune their ears to your conversation, so don’t do it. Maintain at least a 10-foot radius from people while talking. No one wants to hear your conversation Never talk in elevators, libraries, museums, restaurants, theatres, dentist or doctor waiting rooms, places of worship, auditoriums or other enclosed public spaces like hospital emergency rooms or buses. And don’t have any emotional conversations in public –– ever. Remember no one wants to know your deep stuff so if you must, at least use code language while on phone –– it is purely a private affair. Don’t use loud and annoying ring tones that destroy concentration and eardrums. Grow up! Never ‘multi-task’ by making calls while shopping, banking, waiting in line or conducting other personal business. You can easily loose concentration, and you are definitely attracting a thief. You can kindly tell your caller that you can’t take the call, but you will call them back.
Do’s Keep all cellular conversations brief and to the point. Use an earpiece in high traffic or noisily locations. That lets you hear the amplification –– how loud you sound at the other end –– so you can modulate your voice. Tell callers when you are on a cell phone and where you are –– so they can anticipate distractions or disconnection. Disconnect a call once you are in an area that is so busy like walking down Luwum Street, and explain to your caller when you call back, why you could not take their call. Inform everyone on your stored-number list that you have just adopted the new rules for mobile manners. Ask them to do likewise –– Please! Speak softly especially if you are in a public place or a taxi if you must take that call. Keep a low profile while on phone. Don’t let out your story to everyone. Ends
