<b>China official to visit soon</b><br>KAMPALA — The Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Li Zhao Ling, is slated to visit Uganda on January 8. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Ling will hold talks with various Ugandan government officials.

KAMPALA — The Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Li Zhao Ling, is slated to visit Uganda on January 8. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Ling will hold talks with various Ugandan government officials.
Ling is expected to visit the permanent home of Uganda’s foreign affairs ministry, which is currently under construction by the Chinese government.

Defence policy out
KAMPALA — The Cabinet has approved the new Defence Policy, state minister for defence Ruth Nankabirwa has said. “We have been working on the defence policy. It was tabled in Cabinet and Cabinet adopted it,” Nankabirwa told The New Vision yesterday.

Two drown on L. Kyoga
LUWEERO — Two men drowned on Lake Kyoga in the first accident to happen on the central Uganda lake this year, when their fishing boat capsized near Kibuye fish landing site in Nakasongola on Sunday. Police said the incident took place as the boat owner and his workers, who reside at Kibuye fish landing site, were going out to catch fish.

Five bodies recovered
LIRA — The army has recovered five bodies of women suspected to have been abducted and killed by the rebels of the LRA. The UPDF 5th division spokesperson, 2nd Lt. Chris Magezi, told The New Vision.
Magezi said a group of rebels abducted seven women on December 31. He said the army discovered five bodies at River Moroto and it is believed they were killed by Kony rebels.
