INFORMATION state minister Nsaba Buturo has commended The New Vision for building a formidable media force in the country.

“I have a special feeling about developments here and the contribution you have made to the media industry in this country,” Buturo said yesterday.

He was touring the New Vision offices and factory where he was briefed on the process of newspaper production.

New Vision managing director and editor-in-chief William Pike said the achievements at the company were fruits of a committed workforce that has been built over time.

Pike said the company was installing a new 16-page colour printing press that would improve the quality of the paper and its sister titles. The new press will also improve the printing speed, churning 20,000 copies per hour.

In addition to Bukedde, the leading Luganda daily, The New Vision also publishes three regional papers, Rupiny (Luo), Etop (Ateso) and Orumuri (Runyankore/ Rutoro).

On the New Vision’s editorial policy, Pike said the company would continuously strive to attract the common man. “The New Vision and its sister papers command over 60 percent of the newspaper business in the country. This shows how much we have done to utilise our current strength,” Pike said.

Buturo also toured Vision’s sh2.4b state-of-art editorial building under construction.
